Books

References on gardening and farming vary from fat textbooks that tend to be informative but dry and tedious to read, to pamphlets and magazines that lean towards the chatty and anecdotal and lack any substance. It is rare to find a book on a topic as complex and varied as horticulture that is written to be practical and accessible yet avoids oversimplification. When we find such a book we take notice pass it on to others. Now we've put together a short list of books that we can highly recommend as being concise, readable, reliable and extremely useful.

We field questions from gardeners across the country, and to answer them we rely on years of experience in our garden, orchard and nursery as well as our reference library of over 200 books. We believe in informing customers so that they can make better decisions on which fruit, nut & berry varieties to choose and how to take care of their gardens & orchards. You can learn a lot about fruit, nut and berry culture by consulting our website or catalogue for information on climate zones, ripening times, pollination, chilling requirements, rootstocks and more. We are also happy to answer your questions, it's best to contact us by e-mail at mail@sandybarnursery.com rather than phone as we have a small staff and do not maintain regular office hours. Sooner or later though, most gardeners and farmers will want to have their own references at hand. We are confident that you'll find these books helpful.

Shipping & Tax Books are shipped separately from nursery stock. Allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery. Shipping charges are as follows:
