Mulberries

Mulberries are too fragile to find in your local produce section. The fruit doesn't travel well, which is a shame because too many people miss out on their unique flavor that combines sweet and tart in a perfumed and juicy berry. They have ornamental, heart-shaped foliage and mature into a gnarled shape that gives the landscape a sense of permanence. The berries ripen over several weeks, which spreads out the berry season nicely.
