Chestnuts

Chestnut was the original champion hardwood of the Eastern US. Early pioneers relied heavily on this abundantly fruitful tree of incredibly large size. The species was decimated by the chestnut blight which was introduced from Asia in the late 1800's. The Colossal variety is a hybrid of Asian and European varieties that is blight resistant and produces very large, sweet nuts. Our chestnut trees are 1 year seedlings 1-2 ft. tall. Plant two or more for pollination.
