This is the apple that put Central California on the map as a renowned apple growing region 100 years ago. A popular early variety well known for it's fine flavor. Thin skin, crisp juicy, fine-grained yellowish white flesh. Delicious fresh, it is unsurpassed for cooking and one of the best for early apple juice. Large vigorous tree. An early apple, ripening in late July depending on location. Not a keeper. Requires a pollinator. USDA zones 6-10; Sunset zones 3-11, 14-24, 34-43.
