Yellow Delicious type but larger, firmer, crispier, with more juice and tartness. Distinctive, delicate, spicy flavor, that is faintly anise-like. An excellent all purpose apple. Huge fruit can be over 1 pound! Keeps well and does not shrivel like Golden Delicious. One of the favorite apples here at Sandy Bar Ranch. Large spreading, vigorous tree is a reliable, early producer. Pollen sterile - requires a pollinator and will not pollinate other apples. Ripens late. 500-600 chill hours.
