A long time favorite for home orchards, Elephant Heart produces large, heart-shaped plums with sweet, juicy richly flavored firm blood red flesh. Ripens when most plums are long gone, in September, so you can spread your plum harvest throughout the year. Prolific bearer. Self fruitful but does best when pollinated with any of the plums listed. 500 chill hours. USDA zones 5-9.
